SIGGRAPH 2013: Day 4

Large crowds turned out for the morning production session “The Visual Effects of Marvel’s ‘Iron Man 3,’” which was followed by the chance for attendees to take pictures of the Iron Man maquettes.

Throughout the day, SIGGRAPH Mobile presented the latest advances in mobile technologies through talks, workshops and demonstrations.

SIGGRAPH 2013 Keynote Address

On Monday July 22, nine legendary animation film directors climbed the stage at SIGGRAPH 2013 for the Marc Davis Lecture Series: Giants' First Steps. For an hour and a half, the men shared stories and laughs, providing the audience a rare glimpse into the lives of some of the biggest names in the animation world.

SIGGRAPH 2013: Day 1

This year is SIGGRAPH’s 40th anniversary, and things kicked off with a rush to Registration at 8am. Attendees picked up their badges and merchandise before heading off to see the conference. Many made their way to “The Making of Pixar’s ‘The Blue Umbrella’”, while others attended the all-day Business Symposium where studio leaders and executives came together for networking and inspiration.

Noon saw the opening of the Art Gallery, Studio and Emerging Technologies, which feature many interactive exhibits. Be sure to stop in and check them out.

Ramesh Raskar to Speak at CG Pioneers Group Annual Reception

On Tuesday July 23, the SIGGRAPH Pioneers Group will hold its annual conference reception at the Hilton Hotel in Anaheim. This year's speaker will be Ramesh Raskar of MIT, who recently stunned the graphics community with his presentation of the trillion FPS camera.

Computer Animation Festival Preview Released

Showing Monday through Thursday (July 22 to July 25), the SIGGRAPH 2013 Computer Animation Festival showcases an eclectic mix of the finest work in computer graphics from the last 12 months. The Computer Animation Festival is recognized by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences as a qualifying festival. Since 1999, several works originally presented in the Computer Animation Festival have been nominated for or have received a “Best Animated Short” Academy Award.

Graphics Interface 2014
