On Tuesday July 23, the SIGGRAPH Pioneers Group will hold its annual conference reception at the Hilton Hotel in Anaheim. This year's speaker will be Ramesh Raskar of MIT, who recently stunned the graphics community with his presentation of the trillion FPS camera. The applications Ramesh has discovered for this tool are nothing short of astounding, and the field of computational photography is currently proving to be one of the hottest fields in computer graphics.

The Pioneers Group SIGGRAPH reception will also provide Pioneers with information on a new collaboration with the Motion Picture Academy; an undertaking to collect and archive historical videos, films and data. The collaboration will be part of the SIGGRAPH History Project, and all Pioneers will be encouraged to take part.

Though it is the policy of ACM that the reception be restricted to current Pioneers Group members, any person with at least 20 years of experience in computer graphics and/or interactive techniques may join the Pioneers Group. The membership fee is $47.
