Outreach Chair
The Outreach chair recruits and supervises a committee of volunteers to coordinate outreach activities, including programming for new attendees, bringing in content from strategic areas, coordinating with the local chapter for community outreach, and other special programs as determined by the Outreach Chair, such as sigKIDS. The chair works with other program chairs during the Call for Participation process to assist in encouraging the submission of content from strategic areas.
Overview
The SIGGRAPH Outreach Chair is responsible for the planning, selection process, and implementation of the annual conference Outreach program. Note that this program has appeared in various forms in the past. Areas to be addressed by the Outreach subcommittee can include Technology, New Attendees, sigKIDS, and Community Outreach. The Chair works closely with the Conference Chair, the Chief Staff Executive (CSE), volunteers, and contractors to produce an interesting and successful program.

Specific Responsibilities

Strategic

Participate in strategic planning for the SIGGRAPH Conference

Create a strategic direction for the Outreach program including program goals, emphasis areas, and new initiatives
Management

Recruit and manage a subcommittee to assist in administering the program

Develop local community resources for implementing the program throughout the year

Work with contractors to ensure on-site presentation facilities are appropriate

Manage the on-site implementation of the program
Financial

Work with the Conference Chair and CSE to prepare preliminary and final budgets for the program

Manage the Outreach budget
Publications

Develop the Outreach section of the Call for Participation
- Provide advice on outreach issues as they relate to published conference pieces

Review copies of promotional materials and publications to ensure accurate information

Assist the Contributor Coordinator in the collection of any appropriate publication information for the Conference Abstracts & Applications book and accompanying CD-ROM.
Communication

Report regularly to the Conference Chair and CSE on the status of the program

Facilitate and participate in timely communication with the subcommittee, reviewers, jury, and contributors to provide direction and solve problems

Produce a final report by the wrapup meeting (October) describing the Outreach program, changes from previous years, and lessons learned

Attend and participate in all conference committees meetings

Organize and implement effective subcommittee meetings as required
