What you need to know to prepare your content for publication.
Introduction
The documents available on this page can assist you to properly format and deliver content accepted to a conference or workshop sponsored, wholly or in part, by ACM SIGGRAPH.
ACM SIGGRAPH 2008 Annual Conference
The content submission and selection process for ACM SIGGRAPH 2008 has changed from previous years; please see the ACM SIGGRAPH 2008 website for more information.
The submission and jurying process for the Papers Program at ACM SIGGRAPH 2008 has not changed from previous years. Authors should prepare their papers according to the guidelines (PDF) and use the acmsiggraphac LaTeX class files.
If your technical paper is accepted, you will need complete and deliver the ACM Copyright Form.
One-page abstracts are required for all submissions other than technical papers, and should be formatted according the guidelines (PDF) - see the instructions for preparing a Category 4 document. Links to examples can be found at the conclusion of that document.
If you are contributing material to be presented as a "Class" at the annual conference, you will need to submit course notes, and a document (PDF) is available which can help you collect and format this material.
ACM SIGGRAPH 2008 Asia
The submission and jurying process for the Papers Program at ACM SIGGRAPH 2008 Asia is the same as for the ACM SIGGRAPH annual conference. Authors should prepare their papers according to the guidelines (PDF) and use the acmsiggraphac LaTeX class files.
If your technical paper is accepted, you will need complete and deliver the ACM Copyright Form.
Course contributors should prepare their content according to the course notes guidelines (PDF).
Conferences sponsored by ACM SIGGRAPH
These documents will help you prepare your content for publication at a conference, workshop or symposium sponsored or co-sponsored by ACM SIGGRAPH. For our annual conference, please see the previous section.

Eurographics Workshops and Symposia
A number of Eurographics workshops and symposia are sponsored, in part, by ACM SIGGRAPH, and have their proceedings produced and printed by ACM SIGGRAPH.
Authors of papers accepted to one of these workshops should follow the guidelines made available on the Eurographics site.
Tips and Tricks
A collection of notes that may be useful in the production of your documents.
- If you're using GhostScript, make sure you have v7.04 or newer. GhostScript is available from www.cs.wisc.edu/~ghost/.
- The "pdffonts" application can be used to verify that typefaces have been properly embedded. It's available as part of the "Xpdf" package, downloadable from www.foolabs.com/xpdf/.
- An alternative set of instructions for configuring the various tools one can use to prepare acceptable PDF documents can be found here: http://tug.ctan.org/tex-archive/macros/latex/contrib/IEEEtran/testflow/.
- Those using RedHat Linux 8.0 and LaTeX should check the paper size setting in "/usr/share/texmf/dvips/config/config.ps" -- it may be that "A4" is the default, rather than "letter." This can result in incorrect top and bottom margins in documents you prepare with LaTeX.
- Those using "pdftex" and finding that the standard typefaces aren't being embedded should look at this series of messages from the "pdftex" mailing list: a method for configuring "pdftex" (or "pdflatex") to properly embed the typefaces is described.
Copyrights and Permissions
If your content contains material copyrighted by someone else, you must obtain permission to use that material from the copyright holder. Examples of this include, but are not limited to, images, video clips, sounds, and articles published in other media. Obtaining this permission to use may take some time, and may involve a licensing fee be paid to the holder of copyright.
If the material you wish to reuse was previously published by ACM, you should address your request to reuse to the Permissions and Copyrights Office at ACM. The e-mail address to use for this purpose is permissions@acm.org.
If the material you wish to reuse was published in an IEEE publication, you should visit their site for information on obtaining permission to reuse IEEE-copyrighted material.
A good resource for proper and improper uses of images downloaded from the Web can be found here: http://www.infotoday.com/searcher/jan02/tomaiuolo.htm. (Please don't assume that images found on the Web are freely available for reproduction. It's highly likely that they aren't.)
Copyright Forms
A completed copyright form is required from the primary author of any paper accepted to a conference or workshop sponsored by ACM SIGGRAPH. If you did not receive an ACM copyright form, you may download it from the appropriate link below.
Authors of papers accepted to the annual conference who wish to include any supplemental material with their accepted paper - video, images, source code, etc. - must also complete and deliver the "Supplemental Material" addendum.
Occasionally, copyright on a conference proceedings book produced and printed by ACM SIGGRAPH is held by another sponsoring organization. For convenience, we are also providing links to the IEEE and Eurographics copyright forms. Use them as directed by the organizer of the conference to which your paper was accepted.
