The Eurographics Symposium on Geometry Processing (SGP) is a highly-respected venue for disseminating new research ideas and cutting-edge results in geometry processing. In this research area, concepts from mathematics, computer science, and engineering are studied and applied to offer new insights and design efficient algorithms for acquisition, modeling, analysis, manipulation, simulation and transmission of complex 3D models.

ACM TOG (Transactions on Graphics) is the foremost peer-reviewed journal in the area of computer graphics. The TOG journal has a strong synergy with ACM SIGGRAPH; of the six issues published by TOG each year, two are special issues containing the papers presented at the annual SIGGRAPH and SIGGRAPH Asia conferences.

ACM SIGGRAPH is pleased to announce that open access links to conference proceedings from SIGGRAPH and SIGGRAPH Asia will now be available to the public at no cost, beginning two weeks before each conference and running for four weeks. During this period, conference proceedings may be accessed by members and non-members alike, through the ACM Digital Library.
The eyes are the windows to the soul, or so goes the proverb. As humans, we use our eyes to express a wide variety of emotions, often without even realizing we’re doing so. Animators spend years studying eye movements to help them create characters with a range of believable expressions, but the eyes of robots and interactive toys are far more difficult to manipulate than those of cartoon characters.
Thursday was the last opportunity for attendees to check out Emerging Technologies, the Art Gallery and the Studio. All three venues closed at 1pm. Meanwhile, the Computer Animation Festival went out with a bang with the final showing of this year’s Electronic Theater and two Production Sessions.
Large crowds turned out for the morning production session “The Visual Effects of Marvel’s ‘Iron Man 3,’” which was followed by the chance for attendees to take pictures of the Iron Man maquettes.
Throughout the day, SIGGRAPH Mobile presented the latest advances in mobile technologies through talks, workshops and demonstrations.
The Exhibition Floor and Job Fair opening were met with excitement from attendees. If you didn’t get a chance to visit them today, don’t worry. Both events will be open until the conference closes on Thursday so you can still grab some swag and meet some people.
The day was busy as attendees raced from session to session. The Exhibits Fast Forward Preview and The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences Marc Davis Lecture Series Keynote Session: Giants’ First Steps were particular crowd favorites.
This year is SIGGRAPH’s 40th anniversary, and things kicked off with a rush to Registration at 8am. Attendees picked up their badges and merchandise before heading off to see the conference. Many made their way to “The Making of Pixar’s ‘The Blue Umbrella’”, while others attended the all-day Business Symposium where studio leaders and executives came together for networking and inspiration.
Noon saw the opening of the Art Gallery, Studio and Emerging Technologies, which feature many interactive exhibits. Be sure to stop in and check them out.
Graphics interface is the oldest continuously-scheduled conference in the field. The conference consistently attracts high-quality papers on recent advances in interactive systems, human-computer interaction, and graphics, from around the world. GI 2014 will take place in Montreal, Quebec, from May 7th to 9th, 2014.
The purpose of VISIGRAPP is to bring together researchers and practitioners interested in both theoretical advances and applications of computer vision, computer graphics and information visualization.
