ACM Turing Award Celebration

Grants Available to Attend ACM Turing Award Celebration

ACM SIGGRAPH will sponsor 10 students, postdocs or recent grads to attend the 50 Years of the ACM Turing Award Celebration in San Francisco on June 23 and 24. It's a limited-attendance event featuring huge names in computing discussing the evolution of the field and the future.

The grant includes:

  • Registration to the ACM Turing Award Celebration
  • Two nights at the Westin St. Francis Hotel in San Francisco
  • Up to $900 to help offset the cost of travel/subsistence
  • Access to special sessions that include the opportunity to meet ACM Turing Award winners

The Mechanical Universe Now Available on YouTube

The critically acclaimed television series "The Mechanical Universe… And Beyond," created at Caltech and broadcast on PBS from 1985-86, is now available in its entirety on YouTube. The series contains hundreds of computer animation segments created by computer graphics pioneer and longtime ACM SIGGRAPH member Jim Blinn. Check it out!
