SIGGRAPH 97 is exploring the possibility of a new conference capability: television broadcast events that are designed to educate, entertain, and inform.

SIGGRAPH TV, a new program at SIGGRAPH 97, is designed to support the other conference programs and events: Papers, Panels, Courses, Sketches, Ongoings: The Fine Arts Gallery, the Electric Garden, and the Computer Animation Festival. If you are interested in participating in the SIGGRAPH TV program, please contact the chair with your thoughts, ideas, and comments.

These television broadcasts will consist of selected contributions to the various SIGGRAPH 97 programs. It will include the latest in computer-generated animations, live conference events, special programs, and informational features that will cover the broad range of topics in this exciting, dynamic industry.

SIGGRAPH TV will take advantage of satellite technology and work with televison stations throughout the world. This will give remote viewers the opportunity to experience portions of SIGGRAPH.

The first SIGGRAPH TV Event is being developed now, and it is planned to be broadcast during SIGGRAPH 97. Artists, designers, producers, directors, students, and anyone who would like to contribute their work and talents are encouraged to do so. Participation is needed in all areas of broadcasting, including pre- and post-production.

SIGGRAPH hopes to develop a high-quality televised event, and we encourage contributors who submit works to any of the SIGGRAPH 97 programs to consider how they could prepare their work for television broadcast.
