SIGGRAPH Announces Winner of "People's Choice Award"

(Chicago, IL) - The winner of the SIGGRAPH 2006 Computer Animation Festival's People's Choice Award was announced today. For the second year, attendees were able to vote for their favorite selection from the Electronic and Animation Theaters within the Computer Animation Festival.

The SIGGRAPH Computer Animation Festival is an internationally recognized event that engages and inspires artists and technologists alike. Each year, it serves as a mirror of what is possible today and a window into what can be achieved in the future.

The SIGGRAPH 2006 People's Choice Award was overwhelmingly chosen to be "One Rat Short" by Alex Weil of Charlex (United States). This short film follows a New York City rat from his own gritty world to the interior of a futuristic laboratory. Along his journey, the main character experiences love, danger, and his fate.

The official SIGGRAPH 2006 Computer Animation Festival jury had selected two award winners from this year's 726 entries from 37 countries for exemplary use of computer-generated imagery and animation, and compelling storytelling. The jury winners were:
