SIGGRAPH 2002, the 29th International Conference on Computer Graphics and Interactive Techniques, is where these two rivers meet.

For the first time, Web Graphics is a full program within the annual SIGGRAPH conference, and you are invited to become a part of it. The SIGGRAPH 2002 Web Graphics Program will be a place for the best and the brightest talent to demonstrate and discuss the most innovative online work available, and a place to interact and converge with the international computer graphics community.

SIGGRAPH 2002 encourages Web Graphics submissions across all conference programs and events. This new program is designed to assist, but not replace, traditional offerings of the SIGGRAPH conference. SIGGRAPH 2002 will also present a separate Web Graphics program, in which participants are expected to prepare and present a short talk on their subjects of expertise. The encompassing nature of Web Graphics presents a huge diversity of subject matter. As a guide, proposal topics might include:
  • Navigation, interaction, and usability
  • 3D: interfaces, multi-user spaces
  • Research and development
  • Alternate devices
  • Animation
  • Games
  • Motion graphics
  • Works in progress that illustrate potential new directions in Web graphics
  • Technical concerns of deploying across multiple platforms, borders, and languages
The Web is the most public of media. And so, while anyone can view your work, we want to know about your process. This is an unprecedented opportunity to share your ideas, abilities, triumphs, and experiments, not only with Web graphics professionals, but also with the worldwide computer graphics community. Your work will be seen by experts in scientific visualization, computer-generated imagery and animation, and motion picture special effects, as well as other noteworthy areas.

More than ever before, the Web is a place where design and technology, art and animation, entertainment, education, and research all come together. It's a very exciting time; join us at the best place to be.
