SIGGRAPH 2001 Electronic Presentation Server

Working with the audio-visual (AVW) folks in the Speaker Prep Room, contributors can load and test their presentation material. AVW staff will archive their material to the presentation server for safekeeping and delivery to the stage. Individual speakers that wish to modify their archived material will be able to access that material on the Presentation Server using a password-protected web interface. Even through Speaker materials on the server are automatically backed up to guard against equipment failure, it is in the best interest of each speaker to bring electronic media copies of their presentations to their session as a secondary backup.

AVW stage personnel will have read-only access to a speaker's files using the speakers' last name and program or by program, room, and time of the presentation. For example:

Jones_Crs - Course speaker Jones
Smith_Edu - Education speaker Smith
Smith_Edu_1 - Second education presentation for Smith

In order for speakers to get acquainted and feel more comfortable with how this system works, they should schedule a convenient time to visit Speaker Prep and sign up for time slot in the Speaker Practice room (a complete mockup of the stage layout and equipment setup).

SECURITY: Access to the presentation archives is limited to AVW staff and individual speakers. The material upload and downloads will be handled by AVW. Files will be deleted from the presentation server at the end of the week.
