Project Details

This project explores the utility of physical immersion and multisensory perception to enhance science education.

ScienceSpace enables learners to experience "difficult to teach" science phenomena (such as relativity and quantum mechanics) to support an instinctive, qualitative understanding as a motivation and basis for future study. ScienceSpace currently consists of three worlds that address Newtonian mechanics, electrostatics, and molecular structure.

Objectives of Project ScienceSpace include:
- investigating whether sensorially immersive, constructivist learning can remediate typical misconceptions in mental models of reality held by many students
- studying whether mastery of traditionally difficult subjects is enhanced through learning-by-doing
