Project Details
- "Virtual New Orleans" is a 3D, VRML representation of downtown New Orleans that includes several neighborhoods (the Waterfront, the French Quarter, and Warehouse District around the Convention Center).
- The database features an active set of hyper-linked context-sensitive locations that become active and report data such as names, addresses, and web URLs as a user passes within proximity to them. The data itself is highly optimized for increased interactivity and transmission (under 5000 polygons).
- "Virtual New Orleans" is the "first of many cities to be recreated in VRML".
