Project Details
- The "Virtual Kabuki System" demonstrates a real-time facial expression detection and reproduction system to drive expressions in 3D models of Kabuki actors.
- The system consists of three main modules: face modeling, facial expression detection, and reproduction which involves translation of captured expression to the virtual model. Tracking of features is accomplished through special helmets and stereo thermograph cameras.
- The application can be applied to personified agents (avatars) in 3D virtual environments to enhance communication fidelity.
