Project Details

"Spirits of the Bayou" is a virtual environment where human-directed avatars and computer controlled agents interact with each other in real time.

They are developed and controlled by behaviors specified through the IMPROV system. Using procedural animation, behavioral scripting techniques, and multi-modal interaction paradigms (such as speech and gesture recognition), the system supports collaborative development over a number of standard Internet protocols.

Research continues on the development of more complex and autonomous virtual avatars and agents.
