Project Details

"R.O.V.E.R. II is an extension of a simple telepresence project that features stereo vision and independent head tracking.

Based upon a mobilized SGI Onyx chassis, the remote presence platform allows the user to view and interact with its environment through a mechanically tracked helmet viewer (that guides the stereo vision cameras) and a two-way voice link.

The additional tracking information allows R.O.V.E.R II to mimic the user's viewpoint, allowing for a smoother human-machine interface using the rover as a telepresence platform.
