Project Details
- Using virtual reality simulations, an exposure therapy approach to acrophobia (fear of heights) is explored.
- Using four scenarios (glass elevator, canyon with bridges, balconies overlooking a city, and an airplane in flight) with a variety of controls, patients are exposed to a variety of nuances that can begin to reduce their anxieties around height situations.
- This therapy offers an alternative to "in vivo" therapy which involves exposure to real situations.
