Project Details
- "Better Face Communication presents visualization of a virtual face-to-face communications environment. A synthesized face is displayed with several kinds of expressions, which echo words spoken in real time. Communication and collaboration between the virtual operator and the participant control [the] facial expressions. After a few minutes of training, the participant learns how to control facial expressions and lip movement with a pointing device and voice input."
- The facial model is captured and mapped from the participant onto a 4000-polygon model. Voice training is achieved by speaking a few vowels into a microphone. After this, voice analysis is achieved through spectrum features and converted to mouth shape/jaw distortions on the model. Performance is faster than 30 frames per second on a SGI Onyx Reality Engine2.
