Project Details
- "In this project, participants have an opportunity to learn how researchers, policy analysts, educators, decision-makers, and students use an umbrella of computer graphics and scientific computing techniques to examine environmental concerns. Four research groups and one educational program present real-time demonstrations of the latest visualization and decision-support tools for environmental and earth sciences explorations."
- Research and educational groups represented include:
- 1 - Khoral Research Inc. demonstrating an application development system that redefines the software engineering process to include all members of the work group (from programmers to end-users)
- 2 - San Diego Supercomputer Center demonstrating the Sequoia 2000 Project, a collaborative computing environment for earth sciences
- 3 - National Center for Supercomputing Applications presents new task-directed visualization tools that assist specific inquiry and analysis of environmental concerns for groups such as scientists, educators, and policy makers
- 4 - U.S. Environmental Projection Agency's Scientific Visualization Centers and National Environmental Supercomputing Center demonstrates new tools for air pollution and water quality modeling and decision support
- 5 - Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment (GLOBE) educational program shows its newly created interactive visualization tool for networking K-12 students and institutions around the world
