Project Details

"These 'digital sculptures' draw upon recent advances in 3D laser digitizing and rapid prototyping technology."

Using an SGI graphics workstation, surface scan geometry is evaluated by custom software before translation by a computer numerically controlled (CNC) milling machine.

The artist's current work involves integrating diverse human body representations (CT scans, MRI images, ultrasound, stereophotogrammetry, etc.) using digital mapping techniques and stereo-lithographic rapid prototyping.
