Project Details
- "Free Range Chicken" by the RISD Advanced Computing Center looks at a new paradigm for output devices.
- Interaction with CG workstations involves discrete events - drawing/painting through input devices, monitor display of results, and hardcopy output of the final image. Drawing with a pencil involves simultaneous integration of these events. Free Range technology addresses simultaneous generation through "free-running, remote controlled, paint-carrying devices" that respond to mouse/digitizer input in parallel realtime.
- The result supports both realtime traditional output (painting on large canvases) to the electronic (a free range device executing the image at a different time and place).
