Art Gallery Chair
Overview
The SIGGRAPH Art Gallery Chair is responsible for the planning, selection process, and implementation of the annual conference Art Gallery. The Art Gallery Chair works closely with the Conference Chair, the Chief Staff Executive (CSE), volunteers, and contractors to produce an exciting and provocative computer graphics and interactive techniques Art Gallery.

Specific Responsibilities
The following list is a "high-level" view of the specific responsibilities associated with serving as a Art Gallery Chair. The list is organized under general categories of responsibility.
Strategic
- Participate in strategic planning for the SIGGRAPH Conference
- Create a strategic direction for the Art Gallery, including technical and artistic focus, emphasis areas, and new initiatives
Management
- Recruit and manage a subcommittee to assist in administering the Art Gallery
- Organize and implement a thorough Art Gallery review process
- Recruit and supervise an Art Gallery jury (unless curated)
- Provide information to accepted artists regarding shipping, timing, and requirements
- Return materials with notification letters to artists who will not be included in the show
- Curatorial: Work with volunteers and contractors to develop a space layout for the show. Design and curate the exhibition to reflect an artistic vision
- Work with contractors to ensure on-site facilities are appropriate
- Work with contributors and volunteers to set up the Art Gallery exhibit at the conference location
- Manage the on-site presentation of Art Gallery pieces
- Work with contributors and volunteers to disassemble the Art Gallery at the end of the conference
Financial
- Work with the Conference Chair and CSE to prepare preliminary and final conference budgets for the Art Gallery
- Manage the Art Gallery budget
Publications
- Develop the Art Gallery section of the Call for Participation
- Review copies of appropriate promotional pieces and publications to ensure accurate Art Gallery information
- Assist the Publications Chair in the collection of Art Gallery abstracts for both printed Visual Proceedings and CD-ROM
Communication
- Report regularly to the Conference Chair and CSE on the status of the Art Gallery
- Facilitate and participate in timely communication with the subcommittee, reviewers, jury, and contributors to provide direction and solve problems
- Produce a final report by the wrapup meeting (October) describing the Art Gallery process, changes from previous years, and lessons learned
Meetings
- Attend and participate in all conference committees meetings
- Organize and implement an effective jury meeting to select a wide variety of Art Gallery exhibits
