Ana Luisa Solis, Universidad Nacional Autonóma de México, $6,000, approved 11/6/96. This project brought SIGGRAPH representatives and materials to "Computación
Visual 97," the conference on Visual Computing held at Faculty of Science,
Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, Mexico City, Mexico,
10-14 March, 1997. There was a SIGGRAPH booth for the distribution of SIGGRAPH
information, assisted by members of the Mexico City SIGGRAPH Professional
Chapter. The SIGGRAPH representatives discussed ways for the attendees
to get involved with SIGGRAPH, and each presented at the conference. Representatives
and topics presented were: Judith R. Brown, "Visualization and Scientific
Applications," Steve Cunningham, "Electronic Publishing in the Technical
World," Mary Whitton, "Issues in Implementing Virtual Reality Systems."
Theresa Marie Rhyne, $4,250, second year of a three-year project, approved 3/19/97. See project information in 1995-1996 project list.
Theresa Marie Rhyne, $2,000, approved 4/1/97. This project supported a tutorial speaker on "Internetworked 3D Computer
graphics: Beyond Bottlenecks and Roadblocks," at the SIGCOMM 97 conference.
This is part of a collaboration to bring network information to the SIGGRAPH
community and to bring computer graphics information to the SIGCOMM (Special
Interest Group on Communications) community.
Tom DeFanti, $60,000, approved 5/18/97. This project will allow the SIGGRAPH Video Reviews (SVR) Editor to create a documentary of the 1970's computer graphics films and videos. Many of the seminal developments of computer graphics and animation occurred during this period. This collection will be a resource for educators, students of the craft, artists, and computer animators. |
