Technology is seductive. It begs us to touch it, to see it, to hear it, to experience all that it is. This is the foundation of the Electric Garden:

The Electric Garden challenges the global community to present the most exciting emerging computer technologies created and developed by the world's foremost experts.
Researchers, artists, and developers from industry, education, and entertainment will come together to create a diverse interactive environment that will showcase the most exciting, most seductive interactive computer applications and interface designs.
Art and design will mix with advanced computer technology to introduce new ways of communicating, thinking,
and living while providing a complete sensory experience for all SIGGRAPH 97
attendees.
The deadline for submitting proposals to the Electric Garden was 29 January 1997.
