Example-Based Texture Synthesis in Disney's "Tangled"

Painting hundreds of elements with high-resolution patterned textures typically involves tedious effort, but the authors increased texture-painting efficiency by using example-based texture synthesis. They describe their adaptation of existing texture synthesis methods to their Ptex-based workflow, how they scaled the synthesis methods to production-sized textures, and how they addressed other engineering challenges.
