Toward Evaluating Material Design Interface Paradigms for Novice Users
This paper presents a user study that evaluated the relative benefits of different material-design interfaces, focusing on novice users' editing of the parameters of analytic bidirectional distribution functions (BRDFs) using three interface paradigms: physical sliders, perceptual sliders, and image navigation. The study analyzed two design tasks: precise adjustment and artistic exploration.
Interactive On-Surface Signal Deformation
An interactive system for artistic control over visual phenomena visible on surfaces. The method allows the user to intuitively reposition shadows, caustics, and indirect illumination using a simple click-and-drag user interface directly on the surfaces.
PantaRay: Fast Ray-Traced Occlusion Caching
