New Orleans Outreach
SIGGRAPH 2009 is creating outreach programs that will occur during the conference to benefit the New Orleans community.
While the New Orleans downtown area is well prepared to host SIGGRAPH 2009, the surrounding communities are still in need of support three years after hurricane Katrina. After visiting and talking with several organizations in New Orleans, we have decided to partner with two of them whose missions align with SIGGRAPH 2009's goals:
Tipitina's Foundation
Tipitina's Foundation is a non-profit organization that features "Instruments a Comin," a program that provides new musical instruments to New Orleans area schools.
Algiers Technical Academy
Algiers Technical Academy, a charter high school that is part of the Recovery School Distrcit, features several courses to train students in computer graphics.
As we continue to define and build our programs, we will add more information here.
