XSV: Ex-Student Volunteer Mentoring

Applying for XSV
Supplying a Letter of Recommendation

Have you served as a Student Volunteer in SIGGRAPH 2006, 2005, or 2004? Are you finished with school, so you no longer qualify for the Student Volunteers Program? Are you looking for a way to stay involved or get more involved, but you're not exactly sure how?

SIGGRAPH 2007 offers a unique mentoring/volunteer opportunity. In the second year of this pilot program, we are seeking a very few recent undergraduate or graduate students who have been outstanding SIGGRAPH Student Volunteers or who would like to get involved in conference organization. Former Student Volunteer candidates who are interested in ACM SIGGRAPH and starting careers in computer graphics will be selected for the opportunity to apprentice with a SIGGRAPH 2007 committee or co-located event.

As an apprentice, you will be assigned to a specific committee and mentored by the committee chair. With mentored assistance, you will take on appropriate responsibilities within a team of volunteers that works to make the conference or event a success. If you are selected, your responsibilities may begin in December 2006 and will continue until the conference is over in August 2007.

This initiative is very competitive. Only a few conference programs and co-located symposia are offering apprenticeships.

If you are interested, you can apply directly for an XSV opportunity. However, your application is not complete without Required References, which you must obtain.

If you are providing a reference for a recently graduated student for one of these apprenticeships, you should also take a look at the Reference Procedures.
