Award Winners to be Announced Tuesday

The SIGGRAPH Computer Animation Festival is the premier annual event for the world's most innovative, accomplished, and amazing digital film and video creators. Each year, an internationally recognized jury receives hundreds of submissions and presents the best work of the year in daily Animation Theaters and the Electronic Theater.

This year, the Computer Animation Festival jury selected three award winners from a record-breaking 905 entries for exemplary use of computer-generated imagery, animation, and storytelling. This year's jury featured award-winning and internationally acclaimed industry experts that are listed below.

Featured Speaker Announced

Chief Visual Officer of Electronic Arts Will Address Attendees

As part of SIGGRAPH 2007's new expanded speaker format, Glenn Entis, Chief Visual Officer of Electronic Arts (EA), will deliver a feature presentation on the computer-graphics industry in the future.

The former CEO of DreamWorks Interactive, Entis' responsibilities at EA include working with some of the world's finest gaming industry artists and designers on the pre-production and visual development of game software. During Entis' presentation, he will speak about recent accomplishments and upcoming challenges for interactive graphics in videogames.

"We are honored to have such a seasoned industry leader speak at SIGGRAPH 2007," stated Joe Marks, SIGGRAPH 2007 Conference Chair from Walt Disney Animation Studios. "Glenn is a leading member of the computer-graphics community, a compelling visionary, and a long-time SIGGRAPH attendee. We look forward to hearing his insights into the future direction of the industry."

For 2007, SIGGRAPH has expanded its speaker offerings. In an effort to enhance the SIGGRAPH attendee experience, there will be three Featured Speaker presentations, each representing different key areas of computer graphics and interactive techniques. The three featured presentations will be held on different days and will focus on industry/commerce, art, or research relating to the SIGGRAPH community.

Media Registration to Open Soon

Watch Your Inboxes For a Note That Registration is Live

Media registration will open in the next few weeks. Watch your e-mail inbox for an announcement that you can begin registering for SIGGRAPH 2007.

Once registration is live, information will be posted to the media section of the SIGGRAPH 2007 web site. Even if you have qualified for a SIGGRAPH media badge in the past, you must re-qualify for SIGGRAPH 2007. The media registration qualifications will be similar to last year's qualifications and you should plan to provide
similar documentation.

Attendees That Register Before 29 June Will Save

SIGGRAPH 2007 Educators Program

Inspiring New Frontiers

The SIGGRAPH 2007 Educators Program will explore the interdisciplinary use of computer graphics across numerous content areas and in several different presentation formats including formal (Papers, Panels, Workshops, QuickTakes, and Forums) and informal opportunities to reinforce the teaching-learning community's inspiration and commitment.

"The SIGGRAPH 2007 Educators Program content details how to use cutting-edge computer graphics as a teaching tool in all levels of education," said Janese Swanson, SIGGRAPH 2007 Educators Chair. "We have content that spans the world of education and offers attendees the opportunity to expand their personal and professional horizons with the use of computer graphics as an instruction device in their area of specialization."

From an interactive-multimedia program designed to teach oral language skills to a graduate-level course on real-time medical graphics designed to support better and faster work in hospitals, the SIGGRAPH 2007 Educators Program explores endless educational possibilities.

Emerging Technologies Change the Way We Work, Live, and Play

From omni-directional walking to artificial intelligence, the SIGGRAPH 2007 Emerging Technologies exhibit will feature creative, innovative technologies, and applications in many fields. SIGGRAPH 2007 Exhibition

More Than a Sales Floor

SIGGRAPH exhibitors are using the exhibition floor for more things than just selling their products - they are actively using it to recruit experienced talent.

"While there are venues to meet those entering the computer graphics marketplace right out of school, we have heard from exhibitors that the best opportunity to meet the more accomplished people in the field is on the Exhibition floor," stated Mike Weil, SIGGRAPH 2007 Exhibits Manager. "We have noticed more and more exhibitors taking on greater booth space to not only allow their customers to feel at ease in examining their products, but also to provide a separate area for recruiting top talent."
