SIGGRAPH 2007 Exhibition

More Than a Sales Floor

SIGGRAPH exhibitors are using the exhibition floor for more things than just selling their products - they are actively using it to recruit experienced talent.

"While there are venues to meet those entering the computer graphics marketplace right out of school, we have heard from exhibitors that the best opportunity to meet the more accomplished people in the field is on the Exhibition floor," stated Mike Weil, SIGGRAPH 2007 Exhibits Manager. "We have noticed more and more exhibitors taking on greater booth space to not only allow their customers to feel at ease in examining their products, but also to provide a separate area for recruiting top talent."

In fact, current exhibitor participation is outpacing recent years. For more details on exhibiting or sponsoring, contact Mike Weil at

Each issue of SIGGRAPHITTI features one SIGGRAPH-related trivia question that tests the extent of your SIGGRAPH knowledge. Get them right and earn the title SIGGRAPH Expert.

Congratulations to last month's winner, Aaron Hertzmann, Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto, Department of Computer Science, who was one of 9 correct entries (winner is randomly chosen from all correct entries).

The answer to March SIGGRAPHITTI's trivia question was: Every film on the list received a nomination for an Academy Award for Best Animated Short. Three of them went on to win the Oscar: "For the Birds" (2001), "The ChubbChubbs!" (2002), and "Ryan" (2004).

All correct entries received by 16 April 2007 (5 pm CST) will be entered into a pool and a winner will be selected at random. The next SIGGRAPHITTI will feature the correct answer and that month's winner. Winners receive their choice of either the Conference Proceedings DVD or a SIGGRAPH 2007 Polo shirt (approx $50 value). Only contestants who attend SIGGRAPH 2007 are eligible. Prizes distributed at the conference and exhibition in San Diego.

The April SIGGRAPHITTI Trivia Question is listed below. Good luck!

SIGGRAPH Emerging Technogies are a major part of the conference today, however this program has not been around forever. Name the year that the program we call Emerging Technogies today was introduced at SIGGRAPH. Also, list the titles that this program has been called in the past. The person that can correctly identify the initial year and list the most program titles will be this issue's SIGGRAPH expert.

Stake your claim as a SIGGRAPH Expert.

Please note: Entries must be received by 16 April 2007 to be eligible for prize and must include your full name and company/organization affiliation.
