Student Volunteers

The 33rd annual conference on computer graphics and interactive techniques brings together the communities of art, academics, and industry for a common purpose. Students are an important part of these communities, not only for today but also for the future. I invite you to take an active role by becoming a Student Volunteers for SIGGRAPH 2006.

The Student Volunteers program offers selected students from every discipline the opportunity to become an integral part of the annual SIGGRAPH conference. Students meet and learn directly from computer graphics and interactive media industry professionals, educators, and artists from around the world. They participate in a variety of activities while supporting conference programs, events, and attendees. And they have access to all programs, receptions, and many special events related to the conference.

These and other opportunities are available to high school, undergraduate, and graduate students who are enrolled full time for at least one semester during the 2005-2006 school year and who are at least 18 years of age. Every Student Volunteers is part of the team of hundreds working together to make the 2006 conference a success.

Applicants agree to dedicate 18 or 30 hours of volunteer service to the Student Volunteers program and SIGGRAPH 2006. The actual number of hours could be above or below those approximations. Volunteers who are from outside the Boston area and willing to work at least 30 hours are eligible to receive complimentary housing in Boston for the duration of the conference. In addition, all applicants are eligible to apply for the Travel Assistance Program, which offers financial assistance to offset the costs of travel to and from the conference.

Now it is your turn to join the largest and most diverse community of computer graphics and interactive techniques, and explore one of the greatest professional conferences in the world. SIGGRAPH 2006 is looking for reliable, hard-working, self-starting, independent, enthusiastic students from around the world who are excited about SIGGRAPH 2006 and who want to be among the next generation of industry leaders and professionals. I look forward to welcoming you to Boston and hope you will join us for an exhilarating Student Volunteers adventure at SIGGRAPH 2006!
