New Submission Address
For the first time in several years, submission materials sent in physical form will NOT
be sent to Capstone Solutions. All submission materials must be sent to this new address:
Markus Gross
SIGGRAPH 2005 Papers Chair
c/o Mitsubishi Electric Research Laboratories
201 Broadway, 8th floor
Cambridge, Massachusetts 02139 USA
For SIGGRAPH 2005, we will essentially retain the process established in 2004.
Authors are no longer required to categorize their submissions explicitly as research,
system, or process papers.
Auxiliary Access to Submission Records
The online submission system for SIGGRAPH 2005 allows auxiliary access
to submission records for contributing authors. After the submitting author creates a
submission record and communicates the submission ID number to authors who have collaborated
on the paper,
the contributing authors can log in
to the online submission system and request access
as a contributing author. The submitting author will be asked to confirm or decline the access
request. Once auxiliary access has been granted to a contributing author, that author can
view, but not edit, the submission. If the submission is accepted
for review by SIGGRAPH 2005, contributing authors will have access to read reviews and
contact referees during the rebuttal process. The submitting author can revoke previously granted
auxiliary access at any time.
Review Process
Authors will continue to have three days after receiving the reviews to
craft a rebuttal to factual errors in the review of their papers and to
answer specific questions posed by reviewers. The initial length of the rebuttal
text will be limited to 2,000 words to allow for a fast response. Between the initial
rebuttal and the committee meeting, the primary and
secondary reviewers will have seven days to confer about each paper. Upon a
senior reviewer's request, authors will then be permitted to submit more
explanatory material.
Authors should be aware that the senior reviewers will carefully read their
rebuttals. However, it is the sole responsibility of the senior reviewer
to respond to submitted rebuttals and enter into communication with
authors.
The review process will continue to classify papers in one of three ways:
1. Rejected.
2. Conditionally accepted for presentation at SIGGRAPH 2005, possibly pending minor revisions.
These papers will be ratified for final acceptance by completion of a full journal review process.
The proceedings of SIGGRAPH 2005 will continue to be published as a special issue of ACM Transactions on Graphics.
3. Conditionally accepted for publication in ACM Transactions on Graphics,
pending major revisions. At the authors' discretion, these papers will complete a full journal
review process before final acceptance for publication in a regular issue of ACM Transactions on Graphics.
New this year: the Papers committee encourages authors of accepted papers with non-trivial
implementation issues to submit an implementation sketch. See Implementation
Sketches for details.
