The Panels jury will post panel topics by 20 December 2004. The jury will consider the following:
- Topic level of interest
- Moderator's qualifications
- Possibility for interesting discussions
Three outcomes are possible:
- Accept. The topic is selected to move on to the second round.
- Conditional Accept. The jury would like to accept the topic, but
feels that some modifications are needed. Modifications may include
broadening or narrowing the scope of the topic or changing the wording of
the title.
- Reject.
The complete list of accepted topics will be available here on the SIGGRAPH
2005 web site in late December.
The Panels jury will review position papers shortly after the deadline.
The jurors will determine the submitters' expertise on the topic and the
strength of their positions. The moderator and the Panels jury will work
together to select up to four panelists for each topic who represent a broad
cross-section of the SIGGRAPH community.
Topics that do not generate enough panelists will not be presented at the
conference. There is no guarantee that an accepted topic will be presented.
Upon Acceptance
If your submission is accepted by SIGGRAPH 2005, the Permission section of
your online submission form will generate an Acceptance Agreement. You must
print, sign, and fax or send this agreement via postal or courier service
before the conference date. If we do not receive your completed, signed
Acceptance Agreement, you may not speak in the conference.
The Acceptance Agreement is a legal document. It explains the uses SIGGRAPH
makes of presented material and requires you to acknowledge that you have
permission to use this material. This may involve seeking clearance from
your employer or from others who have loaned you materials. The agreement
helps avoid presenting material without permission.
In addition, panel organizers must obtain signed SIGGRAPH 2005 Acceptance
Agreements from ALL presenters (signature of parent or legal guardian is
also required if the presenter is under age 18). Presenters who have not
submitted signed forms will not be permitted to present.
