5K Competition
Since 2000, the hugely popular 5k competition has been challenging web developers to create the most innovative and
stimulating work possible in less than 5,120 bytes.
Entries for the 5k can include virtually any client-side technology in
use on the web, including Flash, DHTML, Java, SVG, X3D, and weirder
things that you need plug-ins for. But remember, if the judges can't see
it, they will probably give you a very bad score. No server-side
processing is allowed.
SIGGRAPH 2004 attendance is, of course, not required for entry to the 5k.
However, there will be several 5k-related sessions during the
conference, including a "Best of the 5k" and deconstructions of some of
the more popular 5k entries. If you feel that the web developers
attending SIGGRAPH 2004 would like to learn more about your 5k submission,
please feel free to submit a Web Graphics presentation proposal along
with it.
The 5k competition for SIGGRAPH 2004 has been open for entries since early
2004. Entries will be made available immediately after the contest
closes for entries, and the judging will take place in late July.
