The deadline for submitting posters to SIGGRAPH 2004 was 19 May.
The complete list of accepted Posters
New for SIGGRAPH 2004: Posters provide a venue for the newest developing research in computer graphics and interactive techniques. Posters are an integral part of many scientific fields and conferences, but have not previously been presented at the annual SIGGRAPH conference.
Because of the low organizational overhead for Posters, we can set the submission deadline much later than for other programs -- very close to the conference itself.
Posters provide a unique venue for research that is younger or smaller than appropriate for the Papers or Sketches programs, including:
- Ideas that are interesting and valuable, but of interest to a niche audience.
- Incremental results that are important but don't comprise a full paper by themselves.
- Preliminary results in which the full course of an experiment has not yet been run.
- Partial results that demonstrate proof of concept but have not yet solved all problems.
- The latest new results that weren't available in time for the earlier deadlines.
The Posters program provides two forms of presentation. First,
posters will be on display throughout the conference week. This allows attendees to browse and study posters at
their convenience, devoting their time to those projects that
interest them most.
Second, we will have scheduled sessions when poster presenters
will be available for informal interaction and discussion. This
allows attendees to receive explanations in person and allows
presenters of new research to receive feedback and ideas in the
early stages of their work. Poster presenters are encouraged to
bring laptop computers to their sessions in order to show images,
play animations, and give demos.
We invite submissions from researchers in all areas of
computer graphics and interactive techniques. We
particularly invite students to submit their work as a
way to "break in" to the research community.
There is already a fair bit of excitement about the idea of introducing Posters at SIGGRAPH 2004. Now all we need is YOU: Join us, present your latest research directions, show off the work you did in the spring! And help set the standard for the future of nascent research at the annual SIGGRAPH conference.
