The International Resources Committee is composed of volunteers from around
the world. Our primary focus before the conference is to encourage
international participation in and attendance at the SIGGRAPH conference. During the conference, we are very active in providing support to our non-US
attendees through the International Center. You have the
opportunity to be a part of this effort for
SIGGRAPH 2004 by joining the International
Resources Committee. Our activities
include:
- Working to promote SIGGRAPH 2004.
This is done in a variety of ways. For
example, we communicate the message
of the conference and distribute
SIGGRAPH 2004 literature at
conferences, symposia, and other events and
facilities around the world. We also
work with local ACM SIGGRAPH
Professional or Student Chapters
around the world. There isn't one in your
area? We'll help you to get one
started!
- Hosting a mailing list, prior to the conference, that is used to respond to
questions and requests from international attendees.
- Helping to improve the writing of international submissions to the various SIGGRAPH 2004 programs and events. Please see: English Review Service. Volunteers are needed to read international submissions and offer
suggestions for enhancing the text (not content) to the contributors. If your first
language is English and you would be willing to review submissions,
please contact the International
Resources Chair directly.
- Supporting international attendees
during SIGGRAPH 2004. Members of the
International Resources Committee
work at the International Center, answer questions from attendees, lend assistance
to those who may wish to host meetings
or informal gatherings for attendees
from their countries or regions, and
provide informal translation
services.
New for SIGGRAPH 2004!
The chance to report back to friends and
colleagues in your country while you are in
Los Angeles for SIGGRAPH 2004. Those
interested in volunteering for the
International Resources communications team
should have some writing, reporting,
video production, and/or photography
skills. If you have any
of these skills and would like to volunteer, please
contact the International
Resources Chair
directly.
Whether you are a first-time attendee or a 20-year veteran, we would like to hear any suggestions or ideas you might have to make the conference experience a more pleasant one for our international attendees.
To volunteer for the International Resources Committee, please fill out this online form.
If you are a student, you are invited to apply to be a SIGGRAPH 2004 Student Volunteer. For complete information, see the Student Volunteers Call for Participation.
