ACM SIGGRAPH Announces SIGGRAPH 2004 will be 8 12 August, in Los Angeles, California

Move from Atlanta to Los Angeles Shows the Ongoing Commitment to Attendees and Exhibitors

(Chicago, IL- October 9, 2002) ACM SIGGRAPH today announced that SIGGRAPH 2004, the 31st International Conference on Computer Graphics and Interactive Techniques, will be 8 12 August, in Los Angeles, California, at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Originally scheduled for Atlanta, the decision to change the location to Los Angeles was made to better serve the needs of both attendees and exhibitors.

"We are very pleased with the selection of Los Angeles as the host city for SIGGRAPH 2004," said Dena Slothower, SIGGRAPH 2004 Conference Chair from Stanford University. "Both our attendees and exhibitors prefer a West Coast location, and we are happy to be able to accommodate them by returning to Los Angeles."

"Los Angeles is thrilled to welcome back SIGGRAPH 2004," said Bill Buckley, EVP Sales at the Los Angeles Convention & Visitors Bureau. "SIGGRAPH and LA have a fantastic synergy and we appreciate the opportunity to have them back in our city."

SIGGRAPH 2004 is the fifth time SIGGRAPH has been in Los Angeles in recent history. SIGGRAPH was in Los Angeles in 1995, 1997, 1999, and 2001. It is the perfect location for SIGGRAPH 2004 as the entertainment and game development communities are among the largest consumers and developers of computer graphics and interactive technology. SIGGRAPH 2004 hopes to bring more than 30,000 computer graphics and interactive professionals from around the world to the city for the 5-day conference and 3-day exhibition.

SIGGRAPH 2004 is currently looking for volunteers for the SIGGRAPH 2004 sub-committees. Information about volunteering is located at: www.siggraph.org/volunteering/volposn.htm.

SIGGRAPH 2003 will be held 27 - 31 July 2003 at the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego, California. The SIGGRAPH 2003 Call for Participation is available at www.siggraph.org/s2003.

The annual SIGGRAPH conference is sponsored by ACM SIGGRAPH, the leading professional society for computer graphics and interactive techniques, www.siggraph.org.
