43. Mathematical Optimization in Graphics and Vision
Tuesday, Full Day, 8:30 am - 5:30 pm
Room 20 D
Level: Advanced
An overview of mathematical optimization methods and their use in graphical applications. Various optimization algorithms are described and illustrated using problems from computer graphics and vision.
Prerequisites
Mathematical background in linear algebra and calculus. Computational background in algorithms and programming. Basic knowledge of geometric modeling, animation, image processing, computer vision, and visualization.
Topics
A conceptual analysis of problems in graphics and vision, and mathematical models used to solve them. A review of combinatorial, continuous, variational, and global optimization techniques. Application of optimization methods in the solution of graphics problems.
