25. Computer Graphics for Large-Scale Immersive Theaters

Large-scale immersive digital cinema ("fulldome") theaters represent a new and rapidly growing medium. This course summarizes immersive theater technologies and graphics production for dome theaters, including real-time and pre-rendered techniques. It features cutting-edge immersive productions at the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center's IMAX Dome Theater.
Prerequisites
General knowledge of basic computer graphics theory and practice including perspective projection, modeling, rendering, and animation.
Topics
Creative techniques in immersive productions. Production tools and techniques, including spherical rendering, cubic rendering, image stitching, spherical image mapping, edge blending and real-time image generation. Immersive productions from leading animators and students.
