Hands-On Courses

SIGGRAPH 2003 hands-on courses require special preparation and equipment:

Hardware
If you want to participate in hands-on activities, you should bring your laptop computer to hands-on courses. Laptops are also available from Rentsys, the official SIGGRAPH 2003 computer-rental contractor. Please use the Rentsys Computer Rental Form to reserve your rental laptop before SIGGRAPH 2003. The rental fee is $165 for the week. Computer rentals are available only through Rentsys, not SIGGRAPH 2003.

Software
Use the links below to access software required in hands-on courses (applications, work files, and tutorials). The software will also be available free of charge, on CD-ROM, at Rentsys Computer Rental in Exhibit Hall D Lobby.
Course 6
Software is required for hands-on participation in this course. Download here.

Course 38
Two software packages are required for hands-on participation in this course. These files MUST be installed before you attend the course:

1. Course 38 work files. Download this .zip archive (150K) and install it on your laptop before you attend the course.

2. Maya 4.5. Download the free version of Maya 4.5 PLE here. After downloading Maya 4.5 PLE, you will be required to return to the Alias web site for a license code. Please install the Maya software well in advance to accommodate the installation and registration process.

Operating systems: Maya 4.5 runs on Windows 2000 Professional, Windows XP Professional, and Macintosh OS X (10.1.5 or higher).

Hardware: Alias recommends 512 MB of RAM, 450 MB of free hard-disk space, and an OpenGL graphics card. If you have a lesser configuration, Maya will usually function, but may run more slowly.

Facilities
Hands-on course rooms include tables, power strips, and wireless network access.
