SIGGRAPH 2003's Fulldome Video Showcase Presented in the IMAX Dome Theater
Free admission to the Fleet Center for those with SIGGRAPH 2003 registration badges.
The first-ever SIGGRAPH showcase of immersive video productions
on the big dome at the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center's IMAX Dome theater.
The Fleet's 23-meter dome theater was the birthplace of large-format
immersive film in 1973, and it's celebrating the 30th anniversary of Omnimax with
the birth of a new medium: large-format digital cinema. Unlike
large-format film, "fulldome" video is a powerful yet highly accessible
medium that democratizes the dome. The showcase features leading producers,
animators, and students working in the medium, including the Clark
Planetarium, Drexel University, Evans & Sutherland Productions, Home Run
Pictures, Sky-Skan Productions, Spitz Creative Media, University of New
Mexico, and more.
