The Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain course was a must for anyone wishing to harness or improve their drawing skills. Presented by Betty Edwards, the author of the hit book Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain, this course was both stimulating and fun.

Upon entering the course, each attendee was supplied with a pencil, drawing board, paper, and other such drawing supplies. The course began with describing the functions of the human brain's two modes, the L-mode and the R-mode. According to Ms. Edwards, the left-hemisphere of the brain is found to be more sensible and direct than the creative and more complex right-hemisphere.
In order to teach attendees how to access the brain's R-mode, which should be used while drawing rather than L-mode, Ms. Edwards provided pictures featured in her book for them to draw. One of the tasks presented was to complete the opposite side of a picture which appeared to be either a vase or two faces looking at one another. After each task, attendees were questioned on how difficult it was to complete the drawing and how they went about finishing the drawing (for example, did they see the picture as two faces while drawing, or did they see the picture as a symmetrical vase).

Ms. Edwards' course was truly eye opening and helpful in finding one's hidden drawing abilities. If you are interested in learning more about the topic featured in this course, her book is highly recommended.
