An investigation of research issues in constructing a low-cost parallel rendering system using a cluster of PCs. This work demonstrates that sort-first approaches can achieve good speedups for moderate numbers of PCs.

Implementing the OpenGL API With Direct Rendering in Linux
Open-source implementation of the direct rendering infrastructure (DRI) included in XFree86 release 4.0 for Linux. The DRI provides secure, high-performance access to graphics hardware.
