Drawing on the Right Side
of the Brain
Learning to draw means learning to see things
in ways that are unusual in ordinary life. Drawing is an active, creative, self-directed process that can be used to record visual
perception, either in reality or in "your mind's eye", much like thoughts and ideas can be recorded with words. In this intensive course, attendees were introduced to the perceptual
skills required for realistic drawing and seeing things "as they are".
Prerequisites
None.
Topics
L-mode and R-mode functions of the human brain, how to access R-mode, the five basic components of drawing skill, and how to use the thinking strategies required for drawing.
