With spring comes renewal, bringing the optimism of change, embracing new ideas and the exploration of new solutions to old problems. This is the theme that follows through this issue. Computer graphics will always beckon its practitioners to "ride the wave at the cutting edge", where the swell of digital solutions is most exciting.
Anton van den Hengel and Anthony Dick have collaborated on writing an article presenting their system "VideoTrace", methods they have researched and developed for image based modeling techniques.
Philip Swinstead's article is the first of three explaining how video game technology is expanding into a broader arena of uses such as pre-vis for the film industry.
Samuel Edsall has given permission for "Computer Graphics" to include an excerpt from his newly published book, Computer Graphics for Television: A Reference Manual. Chapter 15 - "The Future of Television Graphics" addresses the affect that technology and organizational structure have on content and what expectations those place on television graphics.
The e-quarterly also beckons members to become more actively involved
with the development of content for each issue.
