Join the Evolution! SIGGRAPH 2008 General Submissions System Now Open

Be a part of the EVOLUTION, at SIGGRAPH 2008, the 35th International Conference and Exhibition on Computer Graphics and Interactive Techniques, being held this coming summer in Los Angeles, California.

In addition to the new conference day pattern of Monday, 11 August through Friday, 15 August, SIGGRAPH is dissolving borders between some traditional SIGGRAPH programs (Art Gallery, Courses, Educators, Emerging Technologies, Panels, Posters, The Studio, Sketches) to create a more fluid, interdisciplinary conference. Plus, presenters will have more flexible options for sharing their work. While the highly respected SIGGRAPH Papers Program will remain the same, new in 2008 will be a newly formatted Computer Animation Festival, which is evolving in step with the industry.

To facilitate these changes and to save submitters’ time, starting in 2008, SIGGRAPH will be using a single general submission form that allows submitters to describe their work once and have it evaluated for presentation in several different formats if they wish.

For complete details including instructions, submission areas, categories, and formats visit http://www.siggraph.org/s2008/submissions/. Additionally, answers to “Frequently Asked Questions” can be found at http://www.siggraph.org/s2008/submissions/juried/faqs.php and specifically for those that have submitted in the past at http://www.siggraph.org/s2008/submissions/juried/then-now.php.

Critical Dates to Remember
With the new, streamlined submission system, deadline dates have become simpler as well. Please make note of them as they are significantly different from the past. Additionally, to ensure that leading-edge work is still eligible, an all-new “Late Breaking Work” deadline has been added for work that emerges after the general submission deadline but does not require intensive scheduling or space planning (i.e., Posters and Informal Forum).

Technical Papers                                          Wednesday, 23 January 2008
General Submission                                      Wednesday, 30 January 2008
General Submission Materials upload             Wednesday, 27 February 2008
Late Breaking Work                                      Wednesday, 7 May 2008

All deadlines are 22:00 UTC/GMT

A Special Thank You to San Diego
The SIGGRAPH conference also wishes to thank our 2007 host city, San Diego, for their incredible support and contributions towards our highly successful SIGGRAPH 2007 conference, which drew more than 24,000 participants. The SIGGRAPH conference organizers’ and contractors’ thoughts and best wishes are with those Southern Californians impacted by the October fires as they recover and rebuild.
