Committee Structure

The Conference Committees are composed of volunteers and contractors with specific roles to perform in the planning and implementation of the annual conference. The different roles in the organizational structure are as follows:

ACM SIGGRAPH Executive Committee

The Executive Committee consists of elected positions responsible for the operations of the ACM SIGGRAPH organization including the annual conference, publications, education committee, and special projects. Further information on these positions and available services is available at www.siggraph.org.

Conference Advisory Group

The SIGGRAPH Conference Advisory Group (CAG) and SIGGRAPH Asia Conference Advisory Group (SACAG) are composed of a voting group (the Chair, the Conference Chairs of N-1, N, N+1, N+2, N+3 and two Executive Committee representatives), and the Chief Staff Executive (CSE), who is a non-voting member. Staff and invited guests participate in meetings and discussions as needed. The CAGĀ  and SACAG manage conference issues that extend beyond individual conferences and have multi-year impact.

Conference Chair

The Conference Chair is a volunteer responsible for managing the content of the annual conference. The Chair works closely with the Chief Staff Executive, the Executive Committee, the Committee Chairs, and contractors to ensure the success of the conference. The Chair is normally selected 2.5 - 3 years prior to their conference, and serves one year past their conference year.

Conference Chief Staff Executive

The Conference Chief Staff Executive (CSE) is responsible for managing the operations of the annual conference. The CSE works in close conjunction with all volunteers and contractors to manage the details of all ongoing conferences.

Conference Committee Directors and Chairs

Committee Chairs are volunteers responsible for the management and implementation of a specific area of the conference, such as Technical Papers or the Computer Animation Festival. A complete list of position descriptions is available. Committee Chairs are normally selected by the Chair 1.5 - 2 years prior to the conference and serve until two months after the conference. Committee Chairs attend approximately 6 meetings a year to plan the conference.

Contractors

The conference uses several key contractors to support various aspects of the conference such as conference management, exhibition management, and audio visual support. These contractors serve on the conference committee and work closely with volunteers to accomplish the conference.

Subcommittees

Each Committee Chair manages a volunteer subcommittee to help implement their role for the conference. Subcommittee members are recruited by the Committee Chair approximately one year prior to the conference. Specific roles and responsibilities for subcommittee members are defined by the Committee Chair.

Student Volunteers/Interns

Student Volunteers are selected by the Student Volunteer Committee Chair to provide on-site support for the operations of the conference. Volunteer applications are available through the Call for Participation.

SIGGRAPH Asia restructured its Student Volunteer program to an Internship Program. Most parts of the program structure remained the same but students apply to volunteer in certain support functions for the conference more specifically (e.g. Art Gallery Intern, Emerging Technologies Intern, Conference Administration Intern).

The calls for participation will be available 12-10 months prior to each conference.

On-site Managers

In addition to subcommittees and student volunteers, supplementary volunteers are used on-site at the conference to help manage various operational aspects such as registration, on-line efforts, and networking.
