Summary of August 7, 2007 - Carto BOF Meeting at SIGGRAPH 2007
On Tuesday of SIGGRAPH 2007, the ACM SIGGRAPH Carto Project held a Birds-of-a-Feather session.
On Tuesday of SIGGRAPH 2007, the ACM SIGGRAPH Carto Project held a
Birds-of-a-Feather session to report on 2007 activities and to
demonstrate future projects underway. This year's session was extended
to a two hour event where technical updates were provided in the first
hour and applications using Google Earth were presented in the second
hour. As the Carto Project is a collaborative effort with the
International Cartographic Association (ICA)'s Commission on
Visualization and Virtual Environments and the X3D GeoSpatial Working
Group of the Web3D Consortium, reports on these were also provided.
This year, the X3D GeoSpatial Working Group highlighted its efforts to
develop X3D Earth. More details about X3D Earth efforts can be found
The specific agenda items of the ACM SIGGRAPH Carto BOF Session at SIGGRAPH 2007 are noted below. Special thanks to Dean Johnson of Western Michigan University for suggesting the idea and helping me to organize the second hour of Google Earth Applications.
Plans are underway of the Carto BOF to meet at SIGGRAPH 2008 so see you all next year.
