The SIGGRAPH 2005 Job Fair: Part 1

The SIGGRAPH 2005 Job Fair: Part 1

For many conference goers ACM SIGGRAPH’s annual conference represents a golden opportunity to market their talents to some of the top companies in the computer graphics/interactive technology field. This year's Job Fair is once again sponsored by The Art Institutes and has an impressive list of participating companies including Disney, Electronic Arts and many more (see below).

Last year the job fair was heavily attended, often with a line extnding outside just to get into the room with the employers. Bulletin boards were provided for job seekers to post their resumes and every inch was quickly covered with resumes, business cards and even demo reels. This year there are some changes that the savvy job seeker should know about before heading out to the conference. First of all, resume posting is going to be a little more organized. Resumes and demo reels will need to be submitted to the career center between the hours of 10:00 am – 4:30 PM from August 1st through Wednesday August 3rd. The career center will be posting the resumes and employers will go to them to request copies of resumes they are interested in. For more detailed info check out: Posting Your Resume at SIGGRAPH

The other major change is that CreativeHeads.net will be providing online recruitment services free to the companies participating in this year’s job fair. This means job seekers will be able to apply to open positions before the conference even begins, and, if they’re lucky set up times to meet with various employers at the job fair. This is a huge advantage at an event where you are lucky to get a few seconds to talk to each employer. CreativeHeads.net

To sum things up, the key to this year’s job fair is be prepared. Apply online before the conference, bring lots of resumes to give to career services and do not skimp on business cards and demo reels.
