Programs
Up one levelWe put on a variety of programs year-round and worldwide to benefit the ACM SIGGRAPH community.
- Art Gallery — by Viveka Weiley — last modified 09 June 2007 12:19 AM
- Since the earliest SIGGRAPH conferences, an essential part of our community has been those artists and researchers who use the computer as part of their creative process. Here are a number of online areas related to the annual SIGGRAPH Art Gallery.
- Awards — by plone — last modified 18 September 2005 08:39 AM
- The ACM SIGGRAPH Awards program recognizes individuals who have made a significant contribution to the computer graphics community through their research, teaching, service, or writing. Each year, the awards are presented at the annual SIGGRAPH conference's Wednesday morning opening session.
- Carto Project — by Theresa-Marie Rhyne — last modified 23 July 2007 09:02 AM
- The Carto Project is an ACM SIGGRAPH Special Project that explores how viewpoints and techniques from the computer graphics community can be effectively applied to cartographic and spatial data sets. The "Carto Project" is in collaboration with the International Cartographic Association's (ICA) Commission on Visualization and the GeoVRML Working Group of the Web 3D Consortium. The project seeks viewpoints from the computer graphics community on technology (including hardware and software) and techniques that will impact and can be applied to cartographic visualization.
- Computer Graphics Pioneers — by Viveka Weiley — last modified 31 July 2007 10:49 AM
- Education — by plone — last modified 21 June 2005 10:58 AM
- The Education Committee has many different projects, involving volunteers from around the world in the areas of curriculum studies, resources for educators, and SIGGRAPH conference related activities. The Education Committee is always soliciting new ideas and volunteers to implement the ideas.
- Project Grants — by Project Grants Chair — last modified 14 May 2008 09:57 AM
- The Project Grants Program has been discontinued for the upcoming fiscal year due to strategic endeavours worldwide. ACM SIGGRAPH hopes to reinstate this program when we are able, and with the generous support of our membership. In past years, the Project Grants Committee sought new and innovative projects that were of benefit to the SIGGRAPH membership and to the computer graphics community. The program funded many small, interesting projects as well as seeded large non-commercial projects. Proposals that supported ACM SIGGRAPH's strategic plan were given the highest priority.
- Public Policy — by plone — last modified 21 June 2005 11:00 AM
- The SIGGRAPH Public Policy Program is no longer active, but the web site will remain online for archival and information purposes.
- Traveling Art Show — by jryan — last modified 09 June 2007 01:17 AM
- The ACM SIGGRAPH Traveling Art Show helps expose people around the world to the art collected at the SIGGRAPH annual conference's art shows. Each year's show is a subset of the art gallery exhibited at the conference. The TAS travels for two years after the completion of the conference, stopping at universities, festivals, and museums among other locations. If you're interesting in bringing these or future art shows to your community, please contact Lina Yamaguchi for assistance in scheduling, shipping, and insurance (logistics require arranging visits well in advance).
- Reporters — by Jessica Fernandes — last modified 05 August 2007 10:47 PM
- SIGGRAPH Student Reporters give you the rundown on the SIGGRAPH Experience
- Volunteering — by Viveka Weiley — last modified 08 June 2007 05:36 AM
- Hundreds of volunteers participate yearly to plan and implement the annual SIGGRAPH conference. The conference is sponsored by ACM SIGGRAPH, a not-for-profit organization. These pages provide general information about conference committee structure, position descriptions, and volunteer requirements. We are always looking for capable, enthusiastic, and committed people who wish to contribute their vision, industry knowledge, and energy to the most exciting annual event in the computer graphics industry!
