SIGGRAPH Asia 2011 roars into Hong Kong

Discover the next wave of excellence in computer graphics and interactive techniques as SIGGRAPH Asia 2011 goes to Hong Kong, the ideal location for a unique blend of “East meets West”.

The 4th SIGGRAPH Conference and Exhibition on Computer Graphics and Interactive Techniques in Asia will be held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center from 12 to 15 Dec 2011.  See, meet, and interact with the international computer graphics community in the heart of Asia and learn from the best in the field in research, animation, art, software, visualization, hardware, games, visual effects, and education.

SIGGRAPH Asia 2011 will see the return of the Art Gallery and the Emerging Technologies programs. The event lineup will also include the Computer Animation Festival, Courses, Technical Papers, Sketches & Posters programs and a Trade Exhibition. The Student Volunteers program will again be offered, to nurture young talents by providing a platform for them to interact with the industry and academia.

“In more than three decades SIGGRAPH has established itself as the most prestigious organization in the world for computer graphics, interactivity and media arts. SIGGRAPH Asia has made SIGGRAPH more accessible to the community in Asia. At the same time it allows academics and industry professionals from outside Asia to meet and connect with their counterparts from Asia at one single point. Hong Kong’s established reputation as the birthplace of Asian entertainment, its strategic location as the gateway to North Asia and its access to some of the best education and research institutions in the world, will inject a new flavor to next year’s SIGGRAPH Asia. I am confident that SIGGRAPH Asia will continue to grow and we look forward to welcoming more participation from China in 2011,” said Professor Zhi-Qiang Liu, SIGGRAPH Asia 2011 Conference Chair and Professor at the School of Creative Media at the City University of Hong Kong.

ACM SIGGRAPH will announce the conference location for SIGGRAPH Asia 2012 in the first half of 2011. Scott Owen, ACM SIGGRAPH President said “We are very pleased with the development of SIGGRAPH Asia over the past three years. The conference grew substantially from 2008 to 2009, almost doubling its attendee numbers. ACM SIGGRAPH is committed to continuing the SIGGRAPH Asia Conference and Exhibition in the long-term as we see the need for a meeting place in Asia where the global computer graphics community can gather to share, collaborate and innovate.”
